Briefly up for air…

Evidence of my current state of affairs…

Dear Faithful Readers,

I apologize for my absence these past two weeks. The days and somewhat sleepless nights have been filled with final projects for my college course, a return to work teaching, preparing myself and my fellow teachers to use a new learning management system online, and finally preparing parents to use it as well. One look at my email box, my crate that contains my transportable teaching material, and my home is evidence to the chaos that has been my life. No train of thought has made it to the end of the track as of late, but that should be changing. My students returned to the classroom on Friday. And I was prepared. Just 179 more school days to go.

I have some ideas about topics to conquer with writing, with titles such as:

  • “I want my mommy!”
  • “Toilet troubles” or “Nobody knows the troubles I’ve cleaned…”
  • “Learning to trust God–slowly”
  • “The treachery of potholes”
  • “The night before Marmia”

Alas! I have written none. My heart and mind are going wild, wanting the relief tapping on the keys affords me. But, for now, my students and my school come first. And so I leave you with this thought from Scout in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, which I am currently exploring with my juniors and seniors:

“Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.”

I find that now that I have taken the time to write my personal thoughts into posts, it has become an essential. Not being able to write these past weeks has solidified my love for it. As they say, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” I miss it, and I miss you. I appreciate your prayers and thoughts!

See you soon!

Sara
